Busuttil questions PM’s ‘silence’ on Ukraine crisis
Leader of the Opposition expresses support for the people of Ukraine as country is on brink of ‘disaster’.
Leader of the Opposition Simon Busuttil has taken to Twitter to question why Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has remained "silent" on the worsening crisis in Ukraine.
On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin won parliamentary support for use of military force in Ukraine.
"Full support for the people of Ukraine, their independence and integrity. Why is Joseph Muscat silent?" Busuttil said on the micro-blogging site.

In December, Busttil had announced he would refuse to attend a state dinner and concert for former Ukrainian leader Viktor Yanukovych, in what was a symbolic protest at the quashing of pro-EU protests in the capital of Kiev.
Yanukovych's December visit to Malta was however called off.
An urgent meeting of the European Ministers of Foreign Affairs was convened today to discuss the situation, in particular Russia's decision to send troops to the Crimean republic.
Foreign Affairs Minister George Vella will be attending. The EU hopes to discuss the best way to preserve negotiations with Russia after temporary Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk personally blamed Russian president Vladmir Putin for bringing the two countries to the brink of war.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk has warned his crisis-hit country is on the "brink of disaster", accusing Russia of declaring war on his nation.
Yatsenyuk has warned his crisis-hit country is on the "brink of disaster", accusing Russia of declaring war on his nation.
"If President [Vladimir] Putin wants to be the president who started a war between two neighbouring and friendly countries, between Ukraine and Russia, he has reached his target within a few inches. We are on the brink of the disaster," he told reporters in English on Sunday, a day after Russia's parliament approved the use of military force in Ukraine.
Ukraine's navy chief said on Sunday that he had switched allegiance to Crimea's pro-Russia authorities.
