Enemalta suspend tenth employee over energy theft
State utility suspends tenth employee over energy theft which is thought to amount €30 million a year.
Enemalta said that together with the police, inquiries into the alleged cases of electricity theft through irregular meters have continued and as a result the corporation suspended another employee, pending further police investigations.
Another nine employees have been suspended last month.
While thanking customers and other individuals who are collaborating with the corporation and with the police in these inquiries, Enemalta extended its gratitude to employees who are assisting in the ongoing investigations.
"Their assistance is helping to expose further details about these irregularities," it said, adding that the employees' commitment is essential for Enemalta to stop this kind of abuse.
The Corporation also calls on customers who are aware of any irregularity in their consumption readings to voluntarily regularise their position and avoid further consequences.
