Greens applaud recognition of ME and FM as chronic diseases
Myalgic Emcephalomyelitis and Fibromyalgia require state support for early diagnosis and ongoing treatment, Alternattiva Demokratika says.
Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson Arnold Cassola today said that people living suffering from Myalgic Emcephalomyelitis (ME) and Fibromyalgia (FM) require state support for early diagnosis and ongoing treatment to address the symptoms provoked by these condition.
"It is a positive step forward for all those involved including the families of these persons, that the government has finally included these two conditions to the list of recognised chronic diseases," he said.
The Green Party spokesperson on disability issues, Claire Azzopardi Lane added "Furthermore the disabling effect of these two conditions have lead persons living with ME or FM and their families to a financial crisis. Being added to the list of recognised chronic diseases gives them the right to access much needed social benefits."
