Readers split over government’s performance in its first year
MaltaToday readers give their verdict on government’s performance so far, with negative verdict slightly edging it out.
The latest MaltaToday online poll showed that readers are almost evenly split over the government’s performance in its first year in office.
Asked to give their verdict on Prime Minister Joseph Muscat’s government, 47% of respondents said that the 'Malta Taghna Lkoll' slogan was a sham while 44.7% gave a positive verdict.
Out of the 4,700 respondents, only 6.4% gave a “lukewarm” verdict, questioning Muscat’s green credentials while approving of the government’s drive in achieving economic growth.
87 respondents, or 1.9%, declared their scepticism in the political class and said that they couldn’t care less about politic.
Although the online poll shows that the readers’ verdict on the government’s performance is slightly more negative, scientific polls carried out by MaltaToday show a different picture, with Muscat enjoying a positive rating of 46.6% of respondents.
However, the latest results show a 12-point drop in Muscat’s ratings since April 2013, when he was only in office for one month.
