Girl, 15, boys aged 12, 10 charged over hundreds of emergency 112 prank calls

A 15-year-old girl, and two boys aged 10 and 12 respectively were separately arraigned with urgency in Court today and charged with making hundreds of prank calls on the 112 emergency phone number.

The 15-year-old was accused with urgency in the Magistrates’ Court this afternoon and charged of making more than 300 phone calls alone.

The minor pleaded guilty to the charges brought against her in court and the Court, presided over by on duty Magistrate Gabriella Vella, sentenced her to three years’ probation.

The prosecution in the first case was led by Police Inspector Mario Tonna.

At the same time, the two boys were charged in the Minors’ Court with making various prank calls to the same emergency number.

The ten-year-old was sentenced to one year probation after being found guilty, while the case of the 12-year-old was still going to be heard.

The prosecution in this second case was led by Police Inspector Sandro Camilleri.
