‘No police permit’ for Imriehel horseracing event
Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia confirms no police permit was issued for a horseracing event to be held at the Imriehel bypass.

No permit by the police was issued authorizing a horserace at the Imriehel bypass in aid of Puttinu Cares.
In a question raised by Nationalist MP Robert Cutajar, the Opposition sought to establish who had issued the permit and to whom.
But Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia confirmed that the Police had not issued the permit to allow horseracing to take place in the by-pass.
He went on to refer the question to parliamentary secretary José Herrera, responsible of local councils.
The horserace, organsied to raise funds for Puttinu Cares, left motorists fuming after being stuck in traffic after all four lanes were was closed.
On its part, the Qormi local council said Transport Malta had issued the necessary permits.
