MIA emergency evacuation exercise scheduled for this evening
Evacuation drill aimed at assessing ‘level of preparedness’ as part of safety and security exercise.
An emergency evacuation drill is taking place at the Malta International Airport today in collaboration with the Armed Forces of Malta, Civil Protection Department and the Malta Police, a statement issued by the MIA read.
“Malta International Airport advises the public that a terminal emergency evacuation exercise is being held at the airport’s grounds, within the check-in hall environs,” it read.
“The public is advised not to be alarmed by any unusual movements.”
“The exercise is aimed at assessing the level of preparedness of all entities involved, as part of the airport’s commitment to safety and security,” the statement read, adding that the exercise was being held according to ‘strict standards’ stipulated by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
Malta International Airport expressed its gratitude to the public and all airport stakeholders for their co-operation during the event.
