The ex-gratia grant scheme for vehicles registered and licensed for personal use between May 1st, 2004 and December 31st, 2008 has been extended to April 4th, Transport Malta said.

The scheme’s initial deadline was today.

According to a statement released by the Authority, more than 28,000 applications have been submitted and are currently being validated. Eligible applicants would be receiving their first payment under the scheme by the second week of May.

During a press conference last week, Transport Minister Joe Mizzi said that the next of kin of car owners will also be eligible for the scheme.

Applications for the scheme can be downloaded from Transport Malta’s website or collected from the offices of Transport Malta in Sa Maison, Floriana, Marsa and Gozo.

They can also be collected from various ministries and local councils in Malta and Gozo.
