Electricity theft investigations continue
Enemalta and Police investigations into electricity theft through irregular meters are continuing this week.
Following further inquiries, the Corporation suspended another employee pending further police investigations. Another 11 employees have been suspended since these irregularities were revealed.
Many customers are assisting Enemalta in its effort to curb electricity theft, as they voluntarily approached the organisation to report irregularities in their consumption readings.
Enemalta customers who have irregularities in their electricity consumption readings have a few days left, until Monday 7th April, to avoid further consequences by voluntarily regularising their position. Customers who would like to take this option can contact Enemalta on 8007 2245 or [email protected].
Upon requesting this option, customers are asked to provide all information about the irregularities involved and to pay up for the electricity stolen and related penalties as per applicable legislation.
“Enemalta is committed to continue working to minimise and discourage further losses through electricity theft. It will be employing all necessary measures to take action against customers who choose not to rectify their irregularities,” the Corporation said.
