Maltese potatoes to be exported to Sweden

A Swedish company has agreed to start exporting potatoes from Malta to Sweden with the intention of increasing its importation next year.

In a statement, the parliamentary secretariat for agriculture said Roderick Galdes met with companies operating in the area in a bid to tap into the Swedish market.

Between 25,000 and 50,000 kg of potatoes will be exported this year.

The secretariat welcomed the news saying it will bring diversity to the domestic market while helping the economy as well.
