1031 applications processed by MEPA in three months
MEPA validated 1031 permit applications in first three months of the year, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat says
In the first three months of the year, the Malta Environment and Planning Authority processed 1031 permit applications.
A document tabled in Parliament by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, in reply to a parliamentary question by opposition MP Censu Galea, shows that the highest number of applications regarded the development of new dwellings, including conversions (284), closely followed by applications for alterations to dwellings (267).
MEPA processed a further 134 applications for change of use and 48 applications for retail services.
Eight applications were submitted for the development of a hotel or tourist accommodation, while another 20 applications for restaurants/bars/kiosks were processed during the same period.
In terms of localities, St Paul’s Bay topped the list with 66 applications, including an application for a boathouse or yacht marina. Birkirkara, Naxxar, Sliema and Mellieha also feature in the top five localities.
Mdina, St Lucija and Ghasri shared the bottom spot with one application in each locality.
