Another unsolved murder – 34 years later

As part of a series of unsolved murders which Sunday newspaper illum is following every Sunday, this week’s feature involves a murder which took place in Santa Venera as long ago as 1980.

Freddie Fenech was shot three times in front of his residence in Triqil-Barrieri while his wife was opening the garage door.

It was Sunday, 21st September 1980 when the couple has just returned home from their usual Sunday drive. Mr Fenech was shot and robbed by four hooded persons, one of whom kept hold of the victims’ wife as she opened the garage door for her husband to park their brand new van inside.

In the past days, illum spoke to Mrs Fenech about the trauma she went through and what happened on that fateful Sunday.
