Kevin Mizzi has refused to entertain reports that he has resigned his post as personal assistant to the Leader of the Nationalist Party.

But informed sources within the Nationalist Party have confirmed that Mizzi will join newly-elected MEP Therese Comodini Cachia as her parliamentary assistance. Mizzi had already served as parliamentary assistant to then MEP Simon Busuttil between 2005 and 2013.

Contacted earlier today, Mizzi said “today” he was still personal assistant to Simon Busuttil. At the same time, sources had confirmed Mizzi "was considering other avenues”,

“This is not a resignation. I am still his PA,” Mizzi said.

Asked whether he was effectively conducting a handover period or whether he planned on moving on to another post, Mizzi said he didn’t wish to comment.

“I am not a public person,” he added.

Sources within the PN had initially suggested that Mizzi could also be considering other roles within the party as the PN is once again taking a look at its organisational structure.

Mizzi was a communications officer at the Malta-EU Information Centre in 2003 before joining a government ministry as EU funds manager.
