Government denies reports that Ali Zeidan is residing in Malta
The Maltese government denies media reports that the former Libyan Prime Minister is living in Malta.
The government has denied that former Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan is residing in Malta, contrary to several media reports.
In a short comment to Malta Today, the government’s head of Communications Kurt Farrugia denied the reports.
“I can officially deny these allegations. Zeidan is not residing in Malta,” Farrugia told Malta Today.
Media reports were alleging that the former Libyan Prime Minister was living in Xemxija under heavy security.
Zeidan fled Libya in March after losing a vote of confidence in parliament. Shortly after, the state prosecutor issued a travel ban, saying that Zeidan is to the subject of investigations on financial corruption.
