Over 10,000 women had a boob job in Malta
Breast augmentation surgeries are being given as birthday or wedding presents
Breast augmentation surgeries have become commonplace the world over and Malta is no exception. The first breast implant surgeries in Malta date back to 1985 when discreet procedures took place in private hospitals.
Today, almost 30 years later, some 600 breast augmentation surgeries are taking place every year in Malta. These figures have been steady for at least the past 10 years.
Ages vary from girls as young as 18 to women aged 60 and beyond. It is estimated that over the years, some 10,000 Maltese women have had breast implants to enhance their appearance in a procedure that has become more commonly known as a ‘boob’ job.
Specialists in the filed told Sunday newspaper Illum that breast augmentation surgeries are today being given away as gifts by parents to their daughters as well as by men to their partners either before getting married or after giving birth.
