Labour women group praises government’s childcare record
Abela Baldacchino, the group’s president, says that government’s positive energy is transforming Malta into a progressive country within Europe.

The Labour Women Group (Nisa Laburisti) praised government’s implementation of the free childcare services, in light of a recently-issued report by the European Commission which ranked Malta highly with regard to the sector.
The report, entitled ‘Key Data on Early Childhood Education and Care in Europe’, mentions the importance of early care and education for children and specifically refers to Malta for introducing childcare centres at no cost to parents.
The group’s president, Claudette Abela Baldacchino, said that the report’s findings contrasted heavily with the results Malta achieved under previous administrations.
“Today, we can truly say that the government’s positive energy is not only improving the lives of many Maltese and Gozitans but it is also putting us on the map as a progressive country within Europe, and one to be envied,” she said.
“The free childcare centres help all families, especially mothers who aim to re-enter the working world,” she said. “It also helps those willing to start or continue their studies.”
