MEPA evacuated after bombscare

Earlier this morning, the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) had to stop providing a service to the public due to a bomb scare at its offices in St Francis Ravelin, Floriana.

The incident happened at around 10:50hrs when one of the receptionists received an anonymous call saying that a bomb was placed at MEPA facilities.

The entire buildings were immediately evacuated and all employees were directed to assemble at the designated point. Members of the bomb disposal unit and the police were called in to carry out a search.

Following over an hour operation, the offices were declared safe.
