New uniforms for AFM personnel
The new uniform will be put into immediate use as from today.
As part of the on-going modernisation process of the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM), the Force introduced its new combat uniform to replace the outdated Woodland Camouflage pattern which was used to date.
The new combat uniform pattern has been studied and designed to cope with the increasingly diverse operating environments of a modern army and is specifically designed for dry climates such as those present on the Maltese islands. The new pattern is currently in operational use by some of the top ranking armies in the world, including the United States and the British Army due to their superior camouflage capabilities, light weight, comfort, durability and adaptability.
As part of the new uniform, AFM personnel will also start using the new desert coloured boots which have been chosen due to their superior quality and better breathable material improving overall performance in the field.
Besides a whole range of matching accessories such as winter clothing, matching bullet proof vests and helmet covers, the new uniform comes in several configurations depending on the type of duties carried out by Maltese soldiers including, operational taskings, office work, and ceremonial training.
The new uniform will be put into immediate use as from today by all units of the AFM excluding Maritime Squadron which will retain their navy blue uniforms.
