The Nationalist Party has expressed its concern at a Eurostat figure which shows a drop of 4% in Malta’s industrial production. The statistics shows that Malta witnessed the highest drop in manufacturing sector out of the 28  EU countries, with the only exeption being Greece.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the PN said that the industrial sector was an important facet of the economy and a drop in the national output in the sector could have negative effects on workers’ salaries.

Taking aim at Economy Minister Chris Cardona for being “completely silent” on the matter, the Nationalist Party said that government had to understand the reasons for the decline and address the issue.

As recently as May of this year, the Chamber of Commerce issued a document outlining means to boost the industrial sector.
