New Disability Icon launched by KNDP
New accessibility symbol launched by National Commission for Persons with Disability
The National Commission for Persons with Disability today launched a new accessibility symbol, in line with the International Symbol of Access standards.
The sign, known as the Disability Icon, was designed in America by Tim Ferguson-Saunder, Brian Glenney and Sara Hendren and is being introduced in a number of countries.
KNDP said the sign is gaining popularity because “it portrays persons with disability in a dynamic position, showing their desire to be involved in everyday life instead of being a spectator.”
The commission said the sign has been approved by Transport Malta and urged everyone to respect the sign.
