Enemalta to test emergency alarms

Enemalta Corporation would like to inform the general public that it will be testing its alarm systems at various installations on Tuesday 7 September starting at 9am.

Enemalta said this is being done in order to ascertain that these alarms are operative in the unlikely event that an accident is discovered on site.  The tests will consist of the "alarm" siren being switched on for 30 seconds and will be completed by 9:15am

This is being done in order to comply with the Control of Major Accident Hazard (COMAH) regulations.

Enemalta has installed these powerful sirens in order to warn the public in case of any serious emergency situation at its main sites.

Enemalta wishes to advise all residents and other persons in the vicinity of these sites that this is only a test and no action is necessary on their part.

For more information about rules governing the control of major accident hazards, residents are encouraged to refer to the information booklet sent to each household last year or to visit www.enemalta.com.mt.
