Illum reveals details of PSC report that acquitted surgeon Anthony Zammit
Three-page report says witnesses brought by accuser corroborated version given by Prof Zammit in operating theatre ‘kicking’ case.
Sister newspaper Illum reveals details of witnesses’ testimonies in the case reported to the Public Service Commission by a nurse who claimed she was assaulted by surgeon Anthony Zammit.
The PSC report shows that even the witnesses presented by nurse Maureen Farrugia denied seeing Anthony Zammit kicking her, when she complained that the patient being operated did not have her upper body covered up suitably.
The report also explains why Zammit, operating on an obese patient, had to use her scrubs to tie her hands and position her properly and stably.
Zammit was accused of having kicked an attending nurse during the course of the surgery, allegedly for being told by the nurse to cover part of the woman’s upper body he was to operate upon.
