Updated | Man jailed for six months over cannabis trafficking
Malian man handed six month imprisonmen term, fined after ALE officers arrested him on suspicion that he was selling drugs to an Italian man in Paceville.
A 26-year-old Malian was today jailed for six months after admitted to trafficking cannabis in Paceville last night.
Abdi Rahman Diakite, who resides in Birkirkara, pleaded guilty to being in possession of six sachets of cannabis which denoted that they were not for his personal use.
Earlier MaltaToday revealed that while on patrol in St George’s Street, Paceville, officers from the Administrative Law Enforcement spotted two men exchanging a sachet and money are around 11.20pm. Upon being searched, the Malian was found to be in possession of further sachets and cash.
Prosecuting inspector Herman Mula told the court that an Italian man was on his way to buying cannabis from the accused.
Magistrate Josette Demicoli sentenced him to six months in prison and fined him €466.
Inspector Herman Mula prosecuted, while Lawyer Mark Anthony Mifsud was legal aid.
