Gonzi cannot be trusted on corruption - Labour

Labour reacts to prime minister's Radio 101 interview today saying Gonzi cannot be trusted with fighting corruption.

The PL said in a statment that Lawrence Gonzi's defence of "the corrupt" contract for the Delimara extension to BWSC, betrayed his claims of being tough on corruption.

"In an hour-long interview after months avoiding the public, GonziPN has not even spoken about the procedures opened by the EU against his government. And he has refused to even publish the EC letter on the infringement procedures."

The PL said Gonzi was standing by the "unethical behaviour" of his cabinet ministers. "This is the same Prime Minister who sat on corruption allegations in the superyachts process for nine whole months, the same person who sees nothing wrong that his minister is given freebies, or that his party secretary-general holidays with a PN donor who is also a BWSC contractor."

"GonziPN is a shining example of double standards."
