260 drop-outs complete alternative learning course
The first batch of around 260 early school-leavers have completed the Alternative Learning Programme.
The first batch of around 260 early school-leavers who took part in the Youth.Inc branch of the Alternative Learning Programme were awarded a certificate after successfully completing the course.
The ALP programme, which was introduced in January 2014, targets fifth form drop-outs who did not apply for any O-Level exams. The programme trains students in areas such as IT, languages, life skills and mathematics. The training level is Level 1 and 2, depending on the programme.
“The Alternative Learning Programme is part of our policy to strengthen vocational education to decrease the number of early school leavers,” a government statement said.
