The government will issue a public call for senior policy officers within the Permanent Representation of Malta to the EU in the coming days. The officers will be responsible for specific policy areas in the EU fora, particularly regarding Malta’s Presidency of the EU Council in 2017.
This was announced by Parliamentary Secretary for EU funds and EU Presidency 2017 Ian Borg during a meeting with Slovakian Deputy Prime Minister Miroslav Lajcak.
Malta, Slovakia and the Netherlands will form the next EU Presidency Trio, with Malta set to hold the Presidency of the EU Council in the first six months of 2017. The three countries are therefore expected to coordinate on a common political programme.
