Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this morning inaugurated Malta International Airport’s new VIP terminal, which is now open to commercial aviation passengers.
The VIP terminal compliments the Ministerial Lounge, which was previously used exclusively by senior government officials.
This €450,000 investment helps position Malta as an aviation industry player and enhances the island’s commercial aviation product.
Situated just off the main aircraft parking area, the VIP terminal gives the quickest access and the shortest possible distance between a passenger and their arriving or departing flight.
All the standard travelling procedures can be processed through the comfort of the VIP terminal, without the need to queue or wait, allowing passengers to relax and enjoy their privacy.
The VIP terminal houses all standard travelling procedures including exclusive security screening, check-in and baggage handling, and individual passport control.
“Passengers who value their time and privacy now have a new way of travelling to and from Malta. This was an important step for us to be able to provide a better product to such customers. The comfort and convenience we are now offering will certainly help to consolidate Malta International Airport as a world-class player,” said Malta International Airport’s CEO Markus Klaushofer.
Between January and September this year, Malta International Airport saw a passenger traffic increase of 7.2 per cent over last year, hosting a total of 3.38 million passengers so far this year.
The forthcoming winter schedule is due to commence on October 26th. To view the winter flight schedule for Malta International Airport, visit: www.maltairport.com/airlines
