50% of mourners get funeral grant

Illum newspaper today reports on €600,000 dispensed to 4,458 families in grants from the finance ministry for family funerals.

Over 9,500 people died from 2007 onwards. In 2009, 1,476 funerals were subsidised with €212,000.

The maximum grant applicable is for €174 to cover funeral expenses.
