The Qormi-Marsa component of a flood relief project completed

An important phase of the national flood relief project was completed over the past few days, government said today.

The Qormi-Marsa component of the project was completed, relieving the low-lying area from flooding.

Infrastructure minister Joe Mizzi said the National Flood Relief Project should be completed by mid-2015, with works on areas such as Zabbar yet to be carried out

The Qormi component alone cost €4.7 million and parliamentary secretary for EU funds Ian Borg said the project has been extended to Zebbug thanks to a €700,000 increase to the budget. The works on the Zebbug component are expected to be completed in the next few months.
