Three hotels are being proposed on a piece of virgin land stretching from Smart City to Zonqor Point, all on public land outside developmental zones. The details of this proposed deal emerged in a briefing paper prepared by the government's privatisation unit on the request of the chairman of the Consultative Council for the South, Labour MP Silvio Parnis.

Employment Minister Evarist Bartolo said that half of the 3,334 new jobs that were created in Malta this year were taken up by foreigners. He said that Maltese people don’t have the necessary skills for some jobs while there are other jobs that many Maltese workers aren’t interested in taking on.
