Police, Civil Protection and emergency medical teams have successfully contained an Ebola outbreak, in a drill simulating a scenario where the disease emerges in a young woman who recently returned from Liberia.

The stormy weather added a suitably dramatic atmosphere as the emergency response team set up an isolator unit, in which the simulated casualty was prepared for her transportation to Mater Dei Hospital.

The drill is one in a series of such simulations carried out over the past months in order to test Malta’s preparedness for the possibility of an Ebola-infected person arriving on our shores.
