Joseph Farrugia was this evening sworn in as a Member of Parliament after being elected in the casual election to fill the seat vacated by European Commissioner Karmenu Vella.

The Zurrieq businessman, known as Il-Farell, had already served as an MP between 1996 and 1998 during Alfred Sant's short-lived stint in government.
