President Abela hosts lunch for three newly accredited ambassadors

President George Abela was this morning presented with letters of Credence by three newly credited ambassadors for Ireland, the Italy and Kuwait.

Jim Hennessy, Ambassador of Ireland born in 1957, started his diplomatic career in 1979 within the department of foreign affairs as a third secretary at the headquarters and embassy of Ireland, The Hague. In 1994 he served as a Deputy Consul General of Ireland in New York.

Efisio Luigi Marras, Ambassador of the Italian Republic born in 1955, was attached as first secretary to an embassy in 1983 and was second commercial secretary to Tehran in 1985. He became first secretary to an embassy in 1987 and was confirmed in Washington as first commercial councilor in 1999.

Sheikh Jaber Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait born in 1952, joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait and was appointed as Ambassador of the State of Kuwait in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2001. In 2006 he was appointed as director at the Consultant Department.

The ceremonies took place at The Palace, Valletta. In the afternoon, the President and Mrs Abela hosted the newly accredited Ambassadors to an official lunch at San Anton Palace.
