Din l-Art Helwa requests copy of Gozo bridge study

Din l-Art Helwa calls on government to publish report by blacklisted Chinese company on Gozo bridge

Information about the permanent link to Gozo has not been handled in a transparent manner, Din l-Art Helwa said.

According to the study leaked to the media last week a bridge between Malta and Gozo would take four years to complete and would cost €1 billion.

Moreover, the feasibility study commissioned by the government from the blacklisted China Communications Construction Company concluded that the maintenance cost would be around €4 million a year meaning that the bridge would only be viable if road tolls were introduced.

In August of this year the NGO had requested the government to make the feasibility study on the proposed Gozo bridge available to the public.

“Yet despite information being given to the media this week, Din l-Art Helwa still has not been supplied with the requested information.”

Din l-Art Helwa again called on government to provide this report to the public in an equitable and transparent manner.
