Promotional campaign for Gozo launched
Tourism Minister launches €227,000 project to attract tourists to Gozo
An EU-funded campaign to attract tourists to Gozo was launched by Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis. Worth €227,000, the campaign will seek to create a three-year marketing plan for Gozo that will include travel adverts both in Malta and abroad. Parts of the funds will also be used to organize the first international conference on Gozitan tourism and to update the Gozo Tourism Authority’s website to allow tourists to book through it.
“This project will last till the middle of next year and will provide a boost to Gozitan tourism, particularly in the quiet winter months,” Zammit Lewis said. “Increasing the number of tourists that visit Gozo in these months will ensure continuity in economic activity, better work for the Gozitans and diverse tourism.”
He said that 37% of tourists who visit Gozo have already been there before, 34.1% visit it after recommendations by relatives and friends, while 30.9% of them are influenced to visit Gozo after viewing information about it online.
“The Internet is becoming more important every day and this project takes it into account,” Zammit Lewis said.
