In the Press: Driver charged with involuntary murder of friend

22-year-old Terrence Tanti has been charged with the involuntary homicide of his friend Matthew Meilak after Meilak was flung out of car that Tanti had crashed on New Year’s Day. Tanti has pleaded not guilty and has been granted bail against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €5000.

In an SMS to his mother a few minutes before his tragic death, Matthew Meilak told his mother that he really loved her and wished her a happy new year. Speaking to the newspaper, Meilak’s father said that he is still in shock while his mother described her late son as a person who had loved life and his friends.

There are no facilities to house imported wild animals should the illegal structures that currently house them be removed. Currently, nothing prevents people from importing wild animals, including tigers, even if they may not have the proper, legal facilities to house them in.
