Over 400 applications have been received through the Individual Investor Programme, launched early last year. If all are accepted, Malta would see some €450 million in foreign direct investment.

The director of the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations Noel Vella has been removed from his post, effective from March, after the government changed the process by which unions are recognized in places of employment. A board headed by the head of the civil service decline to renew his contract after ten years on the job.

The magistrate overseeing a case against the Victoria local council visited the site at the centre of the ongoing legal battle, Pjazza San Gorg. The contractor responsible for works has taken legal recourse against the local council for a failure to pay for works. The pjazza remains unfinished.
