Maltese personalities to run for charity
Various Maltese celebrities to walk or run marathon in a bid to raise funds for Inspire Foundation
Maltese singers Ivan Filletti, Gianni Zammit, Gianluca Bezzina, actress Tezara Eve Camilleri (Il-Klikka), Journalist Keith Demicoli, and comedian Claire Agius Ordway, will be running or walking the Vodafone Malta Marathon to raise funds for The Inspire Foundation.
Inspire is also encouraging general members of the public to participate in the marathon, the proceeds of which will go towards Inspire’s various disability programmes.
“Whatever you do to contribute, your help will be going towards Inspire’s disability programmes. So on behalf of our clients and their families, we thank you wholeheartedly” said Antonello Gauci CEO of Inspire.
Inspire said that last year, participants who ran or walked for Inspire, together raised the sum of €10,000, and that Vodafone Malta has once again chosen Inspire as its official charity for the event.
The marathon will take place in February, and known personalities, have chosen to make their miles count by attempting this gruelling task, in aid of Inspire.
“We invite others to join us by walking or running with us on the day,” said the Inspire team, “but if running or walking is not your thing, you can support us by helping us fundraise the much needed funds,” said Gianluca Bezzina.
“I’m not an avid athlete, I’m better at singing of course, but I will do my very best to help a charity that I believe in. This year it’s Inspire, as I hope to finish the half marathon and fundraise as much as possible to help such a good cause,” said Ivan Filletti.
Inspire invite the public to send an SMS with the name of the personality they would like to support, unless they would like to physically join the fun. Online donations can also be made through the organization’s website
“Inspire believes that everyone has a right to equality and inclusion, and this is something we all believe in wholeheartedly,” explained the rest of the Inspire team. “Our mission is to try to help everyone with a disability achieve this. We do this by providing individuals and their families with educational, therapeutic and leisure services. We also advocate for inclusion, educate the general public, raise awareness among peers, and hold the best knowledge base on disability on the island.”
