Polidano says it paid MEPA full amount for zoo application
Polidano Group release documents indicating that they had paid MEPA in full for an applicaiton to construct structures at the Montekristo zoo
Polidano Group said that it paid MEPA the full amount of €93,559.06 when it filed the application for the construction for certain structures at the Montekristo animal park and zoo back in 2010.
Polidano Group’s full development MEPA application, that their lawyer released to the media, requests the planning authority “to sanction existing structures and erect an amphi-theatre, falcon tower, a cafeteria, approved parking area to be replaced by another parking area, to construct passage ways.
The application was filed by construction magnate Charles ‘Ic-Caqnu’ Polidano who, together with his brother Paul, owns the zoo at the Montekristo Estate.
The zoo, which includes exotic animals such as lions, tigers and zebras was opened to the public in 2011.
Earlier this month, The Times of Malta reported that the police were still to take action against Charles Polidano infringements at the Montekristo Animal Park despite a request made by the Animal Rights Parliamentary Secretariat eight months ago.
Police said they were still waiting for the decision of the government’s veterinary services department “to be able to take all action called for from them”.
The police had told this newspaper last October investigations were on-going. In April, , the veterinary services department, which falls under the Animal Rights Parliamentary Secretariat led by Roderick Galdes, wrote to the Police Commissioner asking him to take legal action against the owner of Montekristo Estates.
