Shout, the Spring Hunting Out campaign, has welcomed Apostolic Administrator Charles Scicluna’s position against spring hunting, which he made public on TVM during Dissett.

“Mgr Scicluna’s position that hunting should not occur during the breeding season is exactly what this is all about. Targeting birds on their way to breed is not sustainable and will only increase the decline of the Turtle Dove and Quail in Europe,” SHout campaign coordinator Romina Tolu said.

Last October Mgr Scicluna joined a number of birdwatchers in Buskett to condemn violence against birdwatchers, where he had said: “I encourage people to appreciate nature as God's gift, take care of it and enjoy it so that the heritage of nature will continue in time.”

On Tuesday evening Mgr Scicluna confirmed his commitment to nature, and to sustainability. “It is very encouraging to see more people voice their support for the No campaign publicly, especially those who are in the public eye,” Tolu said. “The SHout campaign encourages people to speak out against spring hunting, and to join the SHout on social media.”
