Armed Forces rescued 14,000 people in past twenty years

81 manslaughter cases occurred between 1995 and 2014.

The Malta Armed Forces rescued 13,781 people between 1994 and 2014, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela revealed, in response to a parliamentary question by backbencher Anthony Agius Decelis.

The vast majority, 12,269, of the people saved by the army were migrants. However, they also rescued 186 mariners, 85 fishermen, and 1,241 civilians.

In response to a separate question by the same backbencher, Abela revealed that 81 manslaughter cases occurred between 1995 and 2014.
