Eddie Fenech Adami donates €45,000 to Dar tal-Providenza
President Emeritus Eddie Fenech Adami donates €45,000 from proceeds of autobiography.
President Emeritus Eddie Fenech Adami presented Dar tal-Providenza with a cheque for €45,000, raised from the sale of his autobiography.
Speaking on the occasion of his 81st birthday, Dr Fenech Adami, accompanied by members of his family, attended a thanksgiving mass in the chapel of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. At the end of the mass, he was presented with a silver platter bearing the thanks and signature of Monsignor Michael Azzopardi.
Paying tribute to the former president, Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Dar tal-Providenza, thanked Fenech Adami for his long-standing support of the organisation. He also praised the initiative as another show of solidary from the former president.
He mentioned that right after his swearing-in as Prime Minister after the 1987 general elections, Dr Fenech Adam’s first official act was to sign a deed allowing Dun Mikiel to be buried in the Home’s grounds as he had so wished.
Total revenues from the sale of the autobiography amount to €50,000. Id-Dar tal-Providenza benefited of €45,000 whilst the Joseph Calleja Foundation was given €5,000.
