GWU hits out at Enemalta transfers of credit control employees

In a strongly-worded statement, the General Workers Union has warned Enemalta management not to persist in its ‘dishonesty’ on employees transferred from credit control to ARMS Ltd, the billing company for both Enemalta and the Water Services Corporation.

“There is no agreement with Enemalta on the transfers of employees from credit control to other sectors of the corporation. Discussions are still ongoing with the union and the finance ministry,” the GWU said.

The GWU says it is still expecting the discussions to continue and to delve into greater detail. “Without any agreement, the GWU will not accept any movement of workers to other sections of the corporation.”

The union denied that credit control workers had accepted alternative duties, and said that these employees had lost their company car and mobile phone, and were transferred to various offices.

The GWU said that these employees cannot be transferred to ARMS Ltd until industrial discussions are concluded.
