Speaker meets delegation of South Korean MPs

Maltese and South Korean MPs discuss the possibility of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries. 

Speaker Anglu Farrugia met four South Korean MPs who form part of the Republic of Korea-Malta Joint Parliamentary Friendship Group and are on a state visit to Malta.

South Korean MPs Myeong Sook Han, Mi-Kyoung Chung, Mr Chul Ho Hong, and Sung Ju Kim, were accompanied by Dong Chan Kim, the Programme Co-ordinator of the National Assembly of South Korea, and Sung Hwan Moon, Counsellor of the Embassy of South Korea in Rome.

In a statement, the government said that the two sides discussed the possibility of enhancing bilateral relations between Malta and South Korea, including the possibility of South Korean students studying at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies.

They also discussed how to co-operate further in the fight against international terrorism, and how to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary since diplomatic relations between Malta and South Korea were established on 30 April, 1965. 

MPs Silvio Parnis, Michael Falzon, David Agius, George Pullicino, Francis Zammit Dimech, and Luciano Busuttil were also present at the meetingparticipated in the meeting. Also present were Mark Spiteri, Malta’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and Matthew E. Sullivan, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea to Malta.
