MCA disagrees with MRCC president 'for fear of retaliation'
The MCA has issued a statement to respond to a recent statement by MRCC president Andrew Warrington for fear of "vandalism to climbing equipment and unwanted and unnecessary confrontation between climbers and hunters."
The Malta Climbing Association (MCA) has issued a statement in response to a recent statement by the Malta Rock Climbing Community (MRCC) president Andrew Warrington.
During a news clip feature on TVM, Warrington said that rock climbers often face difficulties, because hunters would allegedly not allow them to use certain public walkways.
The MCA sated that it “categorically dissociates itself from the comments and implications raised regarding climbers clashing with hunters, and the supposed vandalism of climbing equipment by hunters.”
“We would like to point out that the statements aired by Warrington are his sole opinion and do not in any way represent the views of the rest of the climbing community.”
“The results of such statements could only lead to vandalism to climbing equipment and unwanted and unnecessary confrontation between climbers and hunters,” the statement reads.
In an Alternattiva Demokratika (AD) and SHout meeting held last night, various representatives spoke of the dangers of spring hunting to outdoors recreational activities.
Representatives of the ramblers association agreed with Warrington’s claims that public walkways were often blocked by hunters.
