HSBC employees have been ordered by their union, the Malta Union of Bank Employees, not to report for work before Wednesday. MUBE said that it is issuing this directive after the bank threatened to lock out employees who had obeyed its sit-in strike directive on Wednesday and Thursday.

Health Parliamentary Secretary Chris Fearne said that only 10 of the new beds to be created at the Gozo General Hospital will be made available to the Gozitan patients following a 200 million investment in local hospitals. The rest are expected to be used for medical tourism.
