MAM shows support for MUBE members

The Medical Association of Malta (MAM), a fellow member of the confederation of Malta Trade Unions has issued a statement to express its solidarity with the members of the Malta Union of Bank Employees (MUBE) and their families who are suffering financial hardship in the current dispute with HSBC bank in order to achieve their legitimate aspirations.

“MAM applauds MUBE for setting a shining example of internal democracy within a trade union, where a large number of members approved industrial action by means of a democratic vote, sending an unequivocal message of full confidence in their leadership and reinforcing the justification of their union in furthering their claims,” the statement reads.

MAM said that Malta’s economic success has been the result entrepreneurship and investment in a context of good relations between employers and their workforce, with a peaceful industrial relations climate based on bilateral and reasonable collective bargaining.

“Indeed it would be a great pity if this positive climate were to be replaced by Employers assuming a “take it or leave it” confrontational stance with the result of constant industrial unrest,” it added.
