President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca inaugurates new state of the art breastfeeding unit at San Anton palace

A breastfeeding unit at San Anton Palace was today inaugurated by President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

The new breastfeeding unit at the Palace was state of the art and professionally designed. The unit also has a private area where mothers could breastfeed, an area where parents could change nappies.

The President said that there were not enough places where mothers could breastfeed their children or even change nappies in private and that the only place where this could take place was in public restrooms.

Coleiro Preca also urged the setting up of similar facilities in the community. Addressing the inauguration, MUMN President Maria Cutajar praised the initiative and encouraged more mothers to breastfeed their children.

The new breastfeed unit is situation across the Madonna tal-Pilar Chapel.

The inauguration was attended by health parliamentary secretary Chris Fearne and shadow minister Claudette Buttigieg.
