Three new boutique hotels are set to open across Gozo by the end of the year, and a further four hotels are in the pipeline in Malta’s sister island, parliamentary secretary Ian Borg announced.

Inaugurating a new boutique hotel in Nadur, the parliamentary secretary said the government is intent on fostering a business-friendly environment to help attract further investment. Borg explained that three boutique hotels are set to open in Xewkija, Ghajnsielem and Sannt, and works on these projects will be completed by the end of the year.

The new hotels will host 35 rooms, while the Nadur boutique hotel will host 12 rooms.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Quaint Boutique Hotels in Nadur, Borg explained that a further four hotels are in the pipeline. The junior minister also said that a number of squares in Gozo are currently being renovated through European funds, and that such works are creating greater employment opportunities in Gozo.

In August, tourism minister Edward Zammit Lewis said that 16 planning applications for boutique hotels in Valletta had been submitted. The minister had said that the development of the boutique hotels would turn Valletta into a city break and help diversify the type of tourists who visit Malta.
