A court heard yesterday how an internal inquiry file, which looked into the choking death of a patient at Karin Grech hospital in 2012, may have gone missing. The compilation of evidence continued against three members of hospital staff charged with the involuntary homicide of patient John Darmanin.

In light of the revelation that police are investigating allegations of abuse made against Gozo minister Anton Refalo, the PN has called for his removal from his post. Deputy PN leader Beppe Fenech Adami said Refalo's position was no longer tenable and that Refalo should be sacked from his post to prevent any tampering with the investigation.

The number of individuals at risk of poverty and social exclusion has gone up by 5,237, according to NSO data. A 22.9% increase in families at risk was registered between 2012 and 2013.
